A Spring guided foraging tour in the Pacific Northwest forest in Canada is a wonderful opportunity to discover a variety of wild spring greens, early shoots, wild herbs, and other delicious spring wild food that are abundant during this time of year.
This experience includes approximately 2h30 hours of guided walking, followed by a 30-minute social time and wild food tasting.
The tour takes place at Pineridge RV Park and Farm Market, located approximately 15 minutes north of Qualicum Beach: 2715 Turnbull Rd, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 2L7
During the Spring months, the forest floor is adorned with a variety of colourful wildflowers, such as oxeye daisy leaves and miner’s lettuce, which can be enjoyed as edible treats. Other wild plants like stinging nettle, maple blossoms and spruce tips are also commonly found in the forest, and can be used in teas, salads, and other dishes.
- Learn how to confidently identify and safely harvest fresh Spring nutritious ingredients and incorporate them into your kitchen.
- This is an educational tour, not a harvesting expedition. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge and foundation to safely forage and harvest botanicals independently in the future.
- A hands on, experiential learning opportunity for everyone. From tree and forest typology to wild plant identification, recommended harvesting practices and general foraging and outdoor safety will be covered.
- This guided tour offers a chance to learn from a passionate forager with decades of experience in the field.
