A Spring guided foraging tour in the Pacific Northwest forest in Canada is a wonderful opportunity to discover a variety of wild spring greens, early shoots, wild herbs, and other delicious spring wild food that are abundant during this time of year.

This 2 hour walking tour is followed by a 30 minute discussion and wild food tasting.

During the Spring months, the forest floor is adorned with a variety of colorful wildflowers, such as trilliums and miner’s lettuce, which can be enjoyed as edible treats. Other wild plants like stinging nettle, wild mint, and lemon balm are also commonly found in the forest, and can be used in teas, salads, and other dishes.

  • A hands on, experiential learning opportunity for everyone. From tree and forest typology to wild plant identification, recommended harvesting practices and general foraging and outdoor safety will be covered.

What to expect when you arrive

Our expert foraging guide will quickly go over safety rules to respect during the tour, and bring you straight away for your wild foraging experience!
Please allow plenty of time upon arrival to make sure you don’t delay the group, as the tour will start right away. Parking is available at the farm. We will meet at the entrance of the storefront.

Group size & age required

Children aged 6 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and an adult ticket must be purchased along with any child ticket.

Minors (13 years and older) can attend the tour alone only if their legal parents can come and sign the waiver in person on the day of the tour. Please get in touch with us if the adult ticket you are purchasing is for a minor.

Group is limited to 15 participants. Contact us if you wish to book a private booking for a smaller partie.

What to bring

Wear weather-appropriate clothing and choose suitable footwear for the hike. You can check the weather forecast here https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/outdoors/parks/british-columbia/spider-lake-provincial-park to ensure you are dressed appropriately.

Baskets or harvesting pails are also suggested for carrying out the products harvested, and some participants may wish to bring a camera and notebook to document the adventure!

We are providing a small bite-sized portion of wild food products for you to try. Bring your own lunch or eat at the farm at the end of the tour for a more consistent lunch.

Cancellation

Cancellation for a full refund needs to be done 2 weeks before.

Please note that there is a minimum of 10 guests to run a tour. We reserve the right to cancel a foraging date should we not have the minimum number of attendees.

We reserve the right to cancel the tour up to 2 hours prior to it due to extreme weather conditions (such as wind warnings, heat waves, heavy rain downpours, etc.). In this case, we offer you the option to reschedule or receive a refund.
